Anita came to live in Elloughton with her husband Joe and three daughters in 1987 from Blackburn Lancashire. Although born and bred in Lancashire she can claim a North Yorkshire ancestry.
Anita was elected to the East Riding Council in May 1999. She is also a member of Elloughton Cum Brough Parish Council, and a Governor of South Hunsley and Elloughton schools. She campaigns against heavy traffic on country roads, speeding in villages, and will fight against Greenfield development She is keen to see more waste recycling, to promote a sense of pride in our communities, and wants more amenities for young people.
As Group Secretary to the Liberal Democrats on the Council she is responsible for liaison with the Council on Group issues dealing with procedures and appointment in the Council.
Anita says it’s through my interest in the Liberal Democrat party that I became involved in Community issues and campaigning for better services. Working as a Councillor is a great honour, which gives me a sense of fulfilment, and I strongly believe in Community involvement and am keen to encourage more people to be more active in local affairs
