Community Centre and Library Up-Date
04-04-03

At the budget meeting at the East Riding Council in February funding for a new library was approved, your Liberal Democrat Councillors Anita Kay and Coleen Gill are now in discussions with the council over the plans for a new Library and Community Centre.

Elloughton cum Brough Parish Council are now involved in the project. The plans are to combine a Library, IT suite (with free internet access and e-mail facilities and a proposed broadband connection to South Hunsley School) A Customer Service Centre, community rooms for young peoples services, adult education, social and support groups are also included.

Comments made by Brough Residents about the Community Centre
· I think there should be more for Young People
· I would like to see young people of the streets
· Increase social provision especially for Children and teenagers
· A centre is long overdue in Brough
· We’ve talked enough - lets get it built

If all goes to plan Brough should have a new Library and Community Centre by autumn 2004

Cllr Anita Kay says there have been a lot of background preparations for this project; thanks should go out to all who have helped. Together we can finally create something really good for the village and bring more services to Brough.
