New development at Castle Hill

The Hospital Trust has proposed plans for a major expansion at the back of their present site to Eppleworth Road; this site will be going into a green field area of high landscape value.
Thank to pressures from the Lib Dem team
· The Trust must provide a 3-dimensional model of any proposals
· There must provide adequate access and car parking for patients, visitors and staff.
· All development must be of the highest standards of architecture and landscaping with no open car parking on the north side of the development.
Some difficulties may delay the scheme; the Environment Agency say the area is a special protection zone for Yorkshire Waters catchment area. The Hospital Trust will have to work on some engineering solutions to this problem.
Rob Kingdom said: - “permission to build on a Greenfield site is a very different proposition from in-filling the present site. The New Hospital will include a Cancer Centre, this is good news for cancer sufferers and their families”
The Council now has the responsibility of scrutinising the Health Authority; Cllr Anita Kay who sat on the Improved Health Review and Scrutiny Committee on the Council says “these are interesting time for the council and the Health Authority, its important that we make sure we get it right. At the same time we must try to minimise any adverse impact such a large building scheme may have on the local residents, roads and landscape.”
Detailed plans will be on view at a later date in the Customer Service Centre Cottingham.
