Traffic diverted from road works at Brough has meant large volumes of traffic now pass through Elloughton crossroads creating a potential trouble spot, say residents.
Cllr. Coleen Gill said, “A mini-roundabout will reduce the speed of the traffic and help the flow of the diverted traffic at the same time.”
“More than 100 children got to Elloughton School and we want to make it a safer journey for them.”
The petition was presented to the meeting by Cllr. Gill and Cllr. Anita Kay who both spoke of traffic calming measures in the area. They have both called for action to be taken at the crossroads before there is a serious accident.
Cllr. Anita Kay said, “The traffic is so prolific now. This is becoming a very busy urban area and something needs to be done.
Highways Officers are now expected to present a report to the committee at the next meeting in June 03.
