School Action Zones

East Riding Liberal Democrat Councillors put forward a motion to Full Council, which was blocked by the Conservative and Labour members.

The Motion called for measures to combat dangerous parking and chaotic congestion near to Schools. Liberal Democrats want to see a planned program of safety zones around schools to eliminate these problems, 20 M P H speed restriction, white lining at driveway entrances, and do not obstruct signage were requested. This issue will now go to the Healthy Environment Review & Scrutiny committee.

Cllr Coleen Gill Joint Chair of the committee says I intend to make sure this issue get a very thorough review when it comes to committee; traffic congestion is a major concern around our schools.

Cllr Anita Kay says: - its time for the council to get to grips with this problem, and resolve measures to help schools take control of the roads and traffic congestion around them, for the interests of children’s safety.
